How to Put a TONFA Story on a Kindle with calibre
You can put a story from TONFA: The Original Naruto Fanfic Archive on a Kindle without using Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. First download the story as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then use calibre to convert it to AZW3 and transfer it to your Kindle over USB.
What you need

- A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
- calibre, the free e-book manager
- Your Kindle and a USB cable
- WP Downloader, a free web tool with nothing to install
WP Downloader creates EPUB files for free. It can also create PDFs after a free Discord sign-in. For this method, choose EPUB so calibre can convert the file to AZW3.
Step 1: Copy the TONFA story link
Open the story on TONFA and copy its full URL from your browser’s address bar. A story link looks like this:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the TONFA story downloader and paste the link into the box. WP Downloader will recognize the site and fetch the story.
Choose EPUB as the output format. You can also include the story’s images.
Public stories do not require a TONFA account. You can optionally sign in with your narutofic.org account to reach members-only stories that the account can read. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested.
The downloader cannot bypass paywalls, locked chapters, age restrictions, or other access limits. It only downloads material your account can already read.
When the EPUB is ready, save it somewhere easy to find, such as your Downloads folder. TONFA support was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader licensed under Apache-2.0.
Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the downloaded EPUB and add it to your calibre library.
You can edit the story’s metadata or cover before converting it. calibre’s e-book viewer also lets you open and check the EPUB.
If the story gains new chapters later, download the whole story again. WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB, so add the newly downloaded copy to calibre.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in calibre and choose the option to convert it. Set AZW3 as the output format and start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format that you can copy to the device over USB. calibre can also convert EPUB files to formats such as MOBI and PDF, but AZW3 works well for this method.
Amazon’s Send to Kindle service no longer accepts MOBI files. Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB, so you can use calibre and a cable instead of Send to Kindle.
Step 5: Connect your Kindle and send the book
Connect your Kindle to the computer with a USB cable. After calibre recognizes it, select the converted story and choose Send to device.
calibre will transfer the book to the Kindle over USB. Once the transfer is complete, disconnect the device and open the TONFA story to read it offline.
