How to put The Hookup Zone stories on a Kindle with calibre
You can put a Criminal Minds Fic Archive story on your Kindle without Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Download the complete story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, add it to calibre, convert it to AZW3, and transfer it to your Kindle over USB.
What you need
You will need:
- The story’s page on thehookupzone.net or criminal-minds-fiction.com
- A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux
- The free calibre e-book manager
- Your Kindle and a USB connection
WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything for the download. Calibre handles the conversion and USB transfer on your computer.
Step 1: Copy the story link
Open the Criminal Minds Fic Archive story you want to read. Its URL may look like this:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader

Choose EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and can be converted by calibre. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.
You can sign in with your archive account to download a members-only story. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested and can access only material your account is allowed to read. It does not bypass membership requirements, locked content, or age restrictions.
Save the finished EPUB to your computer. If the author adds more chapters later, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select “Add books.” Find the EPUB you downloaded and add it to your calibre library.
You can edit the book’s metadata or cover before converting it, though this is optional.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the story in calibre and choose the option to convert books. Set AZW3 as the output format and start the conversion.
AZW3 is a Kindle format suitable for transfer over USB. Calibre can also convert EPUB files to MOBI or PDF, but this guide uses AZW3.
Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files copied over USB. Amazon’s Send to Kindle service stopped accepting MOBI, but that change does not prevent a Kindle from opening a compatible MOBI file transferred directly.
Step 5: Connect your Kindle and transfer the story
Connect your Kindle to the computer over USB. After calibre recognizes it, select the converted story and choose “Send to device.”
When the transfer is finished, disconnect the Kindle and open the story from its library. You can now read it offline without uploading it through Send to Kindle.
If you do not want to use USB

Can WP Downloader create an AZW3 or MOBI file?
No. WP Downloader produces EPUB and PDF files, not AZW3, MOBI, or TXT. Download the EPUB and use calibre to convert it to AZW3.
