How to Put a Fanfictions.fr Story on a Kindle With calibre
You can put a Fanfictions.fr story on a Kindle without Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Download the whole story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, convert it to AZW3 in calibre, then copy it to your Kindle over USB.
You will need a computer for this method. calibre lets you manage the book, check its metadata, and send it directly to your Kindle.
What you need
Before you begin, you will need:
- The Fanfictions.fr page for the story
- A Windows, macOS, or Linux computer
- calibre, the free e-book manager
- Your Kindle and a USB connection

Step 1: Copy the Fanfictions.fr story link
Open the story on fanfictions.fr and copy its URL. Story addresses follow this general pattern:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader
Open the Fanfictions.fr downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will detect the site and prepare the story.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books to import the downloaded EPUB. The story will appear in your calibre library.
You can edit its metadata or cover before converting it. Skip this step if the imported book already looks right.
You can also open the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer to check it before the transfer. The viewer has a Read aloud feature for listening on your computer.
Step 4: Convert the EPUB to AZW3
Select the Fanfictions.fr story in calibre and convert it from EPUB to AZW3. Kindles can open AZW3 files copied over USB.
WP Downloader does not produce AZW3 or MOBI files, so calibre handles the conversion. The original EPUB remains in your calibre library alongside the Kindle version.
Kindle e-readers can still open MOBI and AZW3 files transferred over USB. Only Amazon’s Send to Kindle service stopped accepting MOBI files.
Step 5: Connect the Kindle and send the book
Connect your Kindle to the computer with a USB cable. Select the converted story in calibre and use Send to device.
calibre will copy the book to the connected e-reader. When the transfer finishes, you can open the story on your Kindle and read it offline.
The full process is:
- Copy the Fanfictions.fr story URL.
- Download the whole story as an EPUB with WP Downloader.
- Add the EPUB to calibre.
- Convert it to AZW3.
- Connect the Kindle over USB.
- Use calibre’s Send to device command.
When to download the story again
WP Downloader cannot add newly published chapters to an existing EPUB. If the author adds chapters, return to the downloader and download the whole story again.
