How to Listen to Whofic Stories With Text-to-Speech
To listen to a story from A Teaspoon And An Open Mind, also known as Whofic, first download it as an EPUB. You can open the EPUB in a compatible app and use text-to-speech to have your phone, tablet, or computer read it aloud.
Download a Whofic story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool, and you do not need to install anything. It downloads complete stories from whofic.com as EPUB files.
A Whofic story URL usually looks like this:

Listen on an iPhone or iPad
Apple Books opens EPUB files, and the built-in Speak Screen feature can read them aloud.
Turn on Speak Screen first:
- Open Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select Spoken Content.
- Turn on Speak Screen.
Open the downloaded EPUB in Apple Books. To start listening, swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen.
Speak Screen uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device, so the narration will sound different depending on the available voices.
Listen on Android
Android has several ways to read an EPUB aloud.
Use Select to Speak
Open Settings, select Accessibility, and turn on Select to Speak. Open the EPUB, start Select to Speak, and tap the items on the screen that you want to hear.
Use Moon+ Reader
Moon+ Reader opens EPUB files and has a built-in text-to-speech mode. Open the downloaded Whofic EPUB in the app, then start its read-aloud mode.
Use @Voice Aloud Reader
@Voice Aloud Reader can also read EPUB files aloud. Open the EPUB from WP Downloader in the app and start listening.
These options use the text-to-speech voices installed on your Android device.
Listen on Windows, macOS, or Linux
Thorium Reader is a free EPUB reader for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Open the Whofic EPUB in Thorium Reader and start its read-aloud feature.
You can also use calibre, which is free on desktop. Open the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer, then select Read aloud.
Both programs use the text-to-speech voices installed on your computer.
Download new chapters later
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. When a Whofic story is updated, paste its URL into the Whofic downloader and download the story again. The new EPUB will contain the chapters available at that time.
