To listen to a Walking the Plank story, download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader and open the file in a reading app with text-to-speech. WP Downloader is free and runs in your browser, so you do not need to install it.
Download the story as an EPUB
Find the story on walkingtheplank.org. Its address should look like this:
http://www.walkingtheplank.org/archive/viewstory.php?sid=1234 Copy the story link and follow these steps:
- Open the Walking the Plank downloader.
- Paste the story link into the box.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.

You do not need a Walking the Plank account. WP Downloader downloads the complete story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list of stories from this site.
The reading apps below can open EPUB files and read their text aloud. WP Downloader can also create a PDF, but that requires a free Discord sign-in.
If the author adds more chapters later, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already saved on your device.
See the Walking the Plank download guide for more help with downloading the file.
Listen on an iPhone or iPad
Apple Books opens EPUB files, and the iPhone and iPad Speak Screen feature can read them aloud.
Turn on Speak Screen
- Open Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select Spoken Content.
- Turn on Speak Screen.
Open the EPUB in Apple Books and go to the part you want to hear. Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen to start reading aloud.

Tips for listening offline
