How to listen to SquidgeWorld stories with text-to-speech

Step 3: Listen on your device

On iPhone or iPad with Speak Screen

Apple Books opens EPUB files, and the built-in Speak Screen accessibility feature can read them aloud.

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to Accessibility, then Spoken Content.
3. Turn on Speak Screen.
4. Open the downloaded EPUB in Apple Books.
5. Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen.

On Windows, macOS, or Linux with Thorium Reader

1. Open Thorium Reader.
2. Add or open the EPUB file.
3. Open the story.

On a computer with calibre

calibre is another free desktop option. Its e-book viewer opens EPUB files and has a Read aloud feature.

Add the downloaded EPUB to calibre, open it in the e-book viewer, and select Read aloud.

Tips for listening

Download the whole story before listening offline. WP Downloader creates one complete EPUB, so you do not need to save each chapter separately.

If the author adds chapters later, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB you already have.
