Using Apple Books Reading Goals With Wattpad Stories

Apple Books can open a Wattpad story saved as an EPUB or PDF. Apple does not clearly document whether EPUB files you import yourself add to your daily Reading Goal, so you will need to check on your device. Read the imported story for a minute or two, then see whether today’s reading time has increased. PDFs can count when Include PDFs is turned on.

Download the Wattpad story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install.

1. Open the Wattpad downloader.
2. Paste the story link into the box. A Wattpad story URL looks like this:

3. Wait for WP Downloader to detect the site.
4. Choose EPUB. This format is free for everyone.
5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
6. Download the file.

You do not need an account for public Wattpad stories. If you sign in with your Wattpad account, you can also download paid stories your account owns and stories from your library or archive. WP Downloader only downloads material your account can already read. It does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, or age restrictions.

WP Downloader can also save a single Wattpad part or a whole reading list. To get chapters published after your original download, download the story again. The tool cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB.

When you paste a link to a single Wattpad story, WP Downloader also shows a “Listen to audiobook” button. The button opens Audora, a sister service that turns the story into an audiobook.

Add the EPUB to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Imported stories appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

1. Find the downloaded EPUB in the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
2. Open the Share menu.
3. Choose Books.
4. Open Apple Books and find the story in your Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the downloaded file.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Reading Goals track:

• How many minutes you read each day
• How many books and audiobooks you finish each year

The daily goal is 5 minutes by default. On an iPhone or iPad, you can change it from the Reading Now tab. On a Mac, change it from Home.

Reading time begins when you open the story and read it in Apple Books. Downloading or importing the file does not add reading time by itself.

Check whether an imported EPUB counts

Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. You can check how Apple Books behaves on your device:

1. Note today’s reading time in Apple Books.
2. Open the imported Wattpad EPUB from your Library.
3. Read for a minute or two.
4. Return to your Reading Goal.
5. Check whether today’s reading time has increased.

Make PDFs count toward your goal

PDFs count toward your Apple Books Reading Goal only when Include PDFs is enabled.

On current versions of iOS, open Settings, Apps, then Books, and turn on Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books.

Once the setting is on, open the PDF in Apple Books and read it there. To check that tracking is working, note your reading time, read for a minute or two, and see whether the total increases.

Can Apple Books open a Wattpad story downloaded as an EPUB?

Yes. On an iPhone or iPad, share the downloaded EPUB to Books. On a Mac, add the EPUB to the Books app.

Do imported EPUBs count toward daily reading time?

Why is my Wattpad PDF not adding to my Reading Goal?

Check that Include PDFs is turned on in the Books settings. PDFs count only when this option is enabled.
