Do SquidgeWorld Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?

You can read downloaded SquidgeWorld Archive stories in Apple Books. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward your daily Reading Goal, though. To check, import the story, read for a minute or two, and see whether today’s reading time increases.

Download a SquidgeWorld story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader’s SquidgeWorld page lets you download stories without installing anything. Copy the link to the story you want. It should look like this:

Paste the link into WP Downloader. The tool recognizes SquidgeWorld and downloads the complete story. It cannot download individual chapters or lists from this site.

You can choose from these formats and options:

• EPUB is free for everyone and works well for reading the story as a book.
• PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
• You can include the story’s images.

You do not need a SquidgeWorld account for public stories. If you sign in with one, WP Downloader can also fetch members-only stories that your account is allowed to read. It uses your credentials only to retrieve the story you requested and cannot bypass locked content, paywalls, or age restrictions.

When new chapters are added, download the story again. WP Downloader cannot update an EPUB already in your library.

Add the story to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported stories appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

After downloading the file:

1. Open it from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
2. Tap Share.
3. Choose Books.

Apple Books will open and add the file to your Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the downloaded file.

The story will appear in your Apple Books Library.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Reading Goals track:

• How many minutes you read each day. The default daily goal is five minutes.
• How many books and audiobooks you finish each year.

You can change the daily goal from the Reading Now tab on iPhone or iPad. On Mac, use Home.

Apple does not document whether EPUB files imported by the reader count toward daily reading time. You will need to check the imported file on your device.

Check whether your imported EPUB counts

Compare your reading time before and after opening the story:

1. Open Apple Books and check today’s Reading Goal time.
2. Note the number of minutes shown.
3. Open the imported SquidgeWorld EPUB.
4. Read for a minute or two.
5. Return to Reading Now on iPhone or iPad, or Home on Mac.
6. See whether today’s reading time has increased.

If the total increases, Apple Books is counting that imported story on your device. If it stays the same, the EPUB may not be adding to your daily reading time.

Make PDF reading count

PDFs count toward Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current versions of iOS, open Settings, Apps, then Books and enable Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books and find the same option.

Once it is enabled, open the downloaded PDF in Apple Books, read for a minute or two, and check your Reading Goal. For EPUB files, use the test above because Apple does not clearly document whether self-imported EPUBs count.
