Do Quotev Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?

Apple Books can open downloaded Quotev stories, but Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward your daily Reading Goal. To check, read the imported story for a minute or two and see whether today’s reading time increases. PDFs count only when the Include PDFs setting is turned on.

Download a Quotev story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. Open the Quotev downloader and paste the story link into the box.

A Quotev story link looks like this:

https://www.quotev.com/story/1234

The tool detects Quotev and downloads the complete story. You do not need a Quotev account. Single chapters and lists are not supported.

You can choose from these formats:

  • EPUB is free for everyone and opens in Apple Books.
  • PDF opens in Apple Books and requires a free Discord sign-in to download.
  • You can include the story’s images in either format.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. If the author adds more chapters later, download the story again. The tool cannot update an EPUB you already have.

For detailed download instructions, see how to download a Quotev story.

Add the story to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported books appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

After downloading the file:

  1. Open it from the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Choose Books.
  4. Wait for the story to open in Apple Books.

You can open it again later from your Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the file.

The story will appear in your Library after it has been imported.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Reading Goals track:

  • How many minutes you read each day
  • How many books and audiobooks you finish each year

The daily goal is five minutes by default. To change it, use the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad, or Home in the Books app on a Mac.

Apple’s documentation does not explain whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. You will need to check the reading total on your device.

Check whether your Quotev EPUB counts

Test the imported EPUB in Apple Books:

  1. Note how much reading time Apple Books shows for today.
  2. Open the Quotev EPUB from your Library.
  3. Read for a minute or two.
  4. Return to Reading Now on an iPhone or iPad, or Home on a Mac.
  5. See whether today’s reading time has increased.

If the total increases, Apple Books is counting the time you spend reading that imported story on your device. If it stays the same, the EPUB may not be contributing to your daily goal.

Reading Goals also track the number of books and audiobooks you finish each year. After completing the story, check the yearly total to see whether Apple Books counted it.

Make PDFs count toward the goal

Apple Books counts PDFs toward your reading goal only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current iOS versions:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose Apps.
  3. Choose Books.
  4. Turn on Include PDFs.

On older versions, open Settings, choose Books, and turn on Include PDFs.

This option applies to PDFs. For an imported EPUB, use the short reading test to see whether its reading time counts.
