Do MuggleNet Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?

Download the MuggleNet Fan Fiction story as an EPUB or PDF with WP Downloader, then add the file to Apple Books. PDFs count toward your Reading Goal when Include PDFs is enabled. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time, but you can test this on your device.

Download the MuggleNet story

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. Open the MuggleNet downloader and paste the MuggleNet Fan Fiction story URL into the box.

A story link normally looks like this:

WP Downloader detects the site and downloads the whole story. It does not download individual MuggleNet chapters or lists.

Choose the format you want:

• EPUB is free for everyone and opens as a book in Apple Books.
• PDF requires a free Discord sign-in. To have PDF reading count toward your goal, you must also enable Include PDFs in the Books settings.
• You can include the story’s images by turning on the image option.

You can sign in with your MuggleNet Fan Fiction account to reach members-only stories that the account can read. WP Downloader uses your credentials only to fetch the story you requested. It cannot bypass account restrictions, locked content, or age restrictions.

Add the story to Apple Books

Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported files appear in your Library.

On iPhone or iPad

After downloading the file:

1. Open the Files app or Safari’s downloads.
2. Find the EPUB or PDF.
3. Open the Share menu.
4. Choose Books.

Apple Books will open and add the file to your Library.

On Mac

Open the Books app and drag the EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library, and select the downloaded file.

The imported story will appear in your Library.

How Apple Books Reading Goals work

Apple Books tracks how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year.

The daily goal is five minutes by default. You can change it from the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad. On a Mac, open Home to adjust it.

Adding a file to your Library does not confirm whether time spent reading it will be included in the daily total.

Make PDF reading count

PDF reading counts toward Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is turned on.

On current versions of iOS:

1. Open Settings.
2. Choose Apps.
3. Choose Books.
4. Turn on Include PDFs.

On older versions:

1. Open Settings.
2. Choose Books.
3. Turn on Include PDFs.

With this setting enabled, reading your downloaded MuggleNet story as a PDF can count toward the goal. PDF reading does not count when the setting is off.

Check whether an imported EPUB counts

Apple does not document whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. Check the behavior on your device:

1. Note today’s reading time in Apple Books.
2. Open the imported MuggleNet EPUB.
3. Read for one or two minutes.
4. Return to your Reading Goal.
5. Check whether today’s total has increased.

If the total rises, Apple Books is counting time spent reading the imported EPUB on your device.

Read on another device
