Do Fanfics.me Stories Count Toward Apple Books Reading Goals?
You can add a downloaded Fanfics.me story to Apple Books. PDFs count toward Reading Goals when Include PDFs is turned on. Apple does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count, so you will need to test the book and check your daily reading time.
Download a Fanfics.me story with WP Downloader
WP Downloader is a free web tool, and there is nothing to install.
- Open the Fanfics.me downloader.
- Copy the Fanfics.me story URL. It should look like this:
https://fanfics.me/fic1234- Paste the link into WP Downloader.
- Choose EPUB or PDF.
- Choose whether to include the story’s images.
- Download the finished file.
EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
For Fanfics.me, WP Downloader downloads the whole story. It cannot download a single chapter or a list. You can sign in with your Fanfics.me account to reach members-only stories that the account can already read. WP Downloader does not bypass locked content or other access restrictions.
Fanfics.me stories are in Russian. The import steps are the same regardless of the story’s language.
If the story gets new chapters, download it again. WP Downloader cannot add chapters to an existing EPUB. The Fanfics.me story download guide has a more general walkthrough.
Add the story to Apple Books
Apple Books opens EPUB and PDF files on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Imported books appear in your Library.
On iPhone or iPad

- Tap Share.
- Choose Books.
The story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
On Mac
Open the Books app and drag the downloaded EPUB into it. You can also choose File, then Add to Library.
The story will appear in your Apple Books Library.
How Apple Books Reading Goals work
Reading Goals track how many minutes you read each day and how many books and audiobooks you finish each year.
The default daily goal is five minutes. To change it, open the Reading Now tab on an iPhone or iPad. On a Mac, open Home.
WP Downloader creates the EPUB or PDF. Apple Books handles the Reading Goals tracking after you import the file.
Check whether an imported EPUB counts
Apple’s documentation does not say whether EPUB files you import yourself count toward daily reading time. Check the EPUB on your device instead of assuming that it will count.
- Note today’s reading time in Apple Books.
- Open the imported Fanfics.me EPUB.
- Read for one or two minutes.
- Return to Reading Now on an iPhone or iPad, or Home on a Mac.
- See whether today’s reading time has increased.
If the total goes up, Apple Books is counting time spent reading that imported EPUB on your device. If it stays the same, the EPUB is not adding to your daily reading time.
Make a PDF count toward your reading goal
PDFs count toward Reading Goals only when Include PDFs is turned on.
On current versions of iOS, open Settings, Apps, then Books and turn on Include PDFs. On older versions, open Settings, then Books and find the same option.
After turning it on, open the imported Fanfics.me PDF in Apple Books and read for a minute or two. Then check your Reading Goal to confirm that the daily total has increased.
Turn this setting on before starting a longer reading session. Time spent reading a PDF while Include PDFs is off does not count toward the goal.
