How to Back Up GoodNovel Stories

Authors and sites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. WP Downloader saves the free chapters of a GoodNovel story as an EPUB, giving you a personal copy to read offline.

Download the GoodNovel story

WP Downloader is a free web tool with nothing to install. You do not need to sign in to download a GoodNovel story.

Open the GoodNovel downloader, then copy the story’s address from goodnovel.com. It should look like this:

Paste the story link into the downloader, then:

1. Check that the link points to the complete story rather than an individual chapter.
2. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
3. Select EPUB, which is free for everyone, or PDF, which requires a free Discord sign-in.
4. Download the finished file to your device.

WP Downloader handles complete GoodNovel stories. It cannot download a single chapter or a list from this site.

Treat the EPUB as a snapshot

The EPUB contains the free chapters available when you downloaded it. It will not update when the author publishes another chapter or edits the story.

Paste the story link into WP Downloader again whenever you want an updated copy. You can keep the old and new files separately if you want to retain the text from before an edit.

Include the story title and download date in each filename. For example:

Story Title - 2026-10-07.epub

Clear filenames make different snapshots easier to identify. Keep these files for your own reading, and do not re-upload or share them.

Keep a second personal copy

Move the EPUB out of your temporary downloads folder and into a clearly named folder for your personal e-books.

You can also keep a second copy in another storage location you control. That copy will remain available if your phone, computer, or e-reader is lost or stops working. Use the same folder and naming system for each snapshot so you can tell the files apart.

Downloading the story again creates a new EPUB. WP Downloader cannot add later chapters to an existing file.

Open the copy on a phone or tablet

Find the EPUB in your device’s downloads or files area and open it with an app that supports EPUB files. Your device may let you choose a reading app when you open or share the file.

After importing the book, open it in the reading app and check that the chapters appear correctly. Keep the original EPUB even if the app stores its own imported copy.

You can also download a PDF after signing in with Discord. EPUB works with e-book library software and can be moved between reading devices.

Organize and read the story with calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Use Add books to place the downloaded EPUB in your calibre library.

With calibre, you can:

• Edit the book’s metadata and cover.
• Read it in the e-book viewer.
• Use the viewer’s Read aloud feature.
• Convert the EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.
• Send the book to a connected e-reader over USB.

WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files. If your device needs another format supported by calibre, download the EPUB and convert it there.
