How to Save Personal Copies of Dokuga Stories

Authors and sites can edit, unpublish, or delete stories. You can keep a personal copy of a Dokuga story by downloading it with WP Downloader and storing the EPUB or PDF somewhere you control. The file preserves the story as it appeared when you downloaded it.

Download a Dokuga story with WP Downloader

WP Downloader is a free web tool, and you do not need to install anything. Start on the Dokuga downloader or paste the story link into the box on the WP Downloader home page.

A Dokuga story URL looks like this:

http://www.dokuga.com/fanfiction/story/1234/1

To save a story:

  1. Open the Dokuga story and copy its URL.
  2. Go to the Dokuga downloader.
  3. Paste the URL into the download box.
  4. Choose EPUB or PDF. EPUB is free for everyone. PDF requires a free Discord sign-in.
  5. Choose whether to include the story’s images.
  6. Download the finished file to your device.

WP Downloader downloads the whole story from Dokuga. It cannot download a single chapter or a list from this site.

Signing in with your Dokuga account is optional. It can give WP Downloader access to members-only stories that your account can already read. Your credentials are used only to fetch the story you requested. WP Downloader does not bypass paywalls, locked chapters, age restrictions, or other access limits.

For more detailed instructions, see how to download Dokuga stories.

Store the downloaded file

Once the file is on your phone or computer, give it a recognizable filename and place it with the rest of your personal reading library.

EPUB is usually the more flexible format for an e-book collection. Choose PDF when you prefer that format and do not mind signing in through Discord.

You can also keep a second personal copy on another device. A filename that identifies the story will help you find it even if its original Dokuga page is no longer available.

Keep downloaded stories for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share the files.

Organize the EPUB with calibre

calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It can organize downloaded stories that would otherwise remain as separate files in a downloads folder.

To add a story:

  1. Open calibre and select Add books.
  2. Choose the EPUB you downloaded from WP Downloader.
  3. Check the metadata and cover, then edit them if needed.
  4. Read the story in calibre’s e-book viewer or send it to a connected e-reader over USB.

The e-book viewer also has a Read aloud feature for listening to the story.

calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF. WP Downloader does not produce MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files, so you will need a separate conversion if your device or app requires one of those formats.

Move the story to your reading device

What you do with the EPUB or PDF depends on the device you use.

For Kindle, follow the guide to send Dokuga stories to Kindle. You can also use calibre to send a book to a connected e-reader over USB.

For Kobo, see the guide to read Dokuga stories on Kobo.

On a phone, tablet, or computer, store the file somewhere you can find it and open it with an app that supports the format. Keeping the original download separate from the copy in your reading app gives you another copy if you later remove the book from the app.

Download a new copy when the story changes

An EPUB or PDF from WP Downloader is a snapshot of the story at the time of download. It does not update when the author publishes another chapter or edits existing text.

To get the newer version, return to WP Downloader and download the whole story again. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. You can keep the older file if you also want the version you first read.
