How to Back Up CFA Archive Stories
Authors and archive sites can edit, unpublish or delete stories. WP Downloader lets you save a personal EPUB or PDF copy of a Comic Fanfiction Authors Archive story for offline reading. The downloaded file is a snapshot of the story at that time.

Store the downloaded file
After the download finishes, find the EPUB or PDF in your device’s downloads folder. Move it to a folder where you keep saved stories so it will be easy to find later. You can organize the files by author or archive if that suits your collection.
Keep downloaded copies for your own reading. Do not re-upload or share them.
Read the copy on your phone or tablet
Open or import an EPUB with a compatible reading app. For a PDF, use an app that can read PDF files.
The controls vary by device and app, but the usual process is:
- Find the file in your downloads or saved-stories folder.
- Select the file.
- Choose a reading app.
- Let the app import the book if prompted.
Once the file is in your reading app, you can read it without reopening the story page.
Use calibre to organize and read stories
Calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS and Linux. It can keep your downloaded stories together in one library.
Open calibre, select Add books and choose the EPUB you downloaded. You can then edit its metadata and cover, read it in calibre’s e-book viewer, or send it to a connected e-reader over USB.
The e-book viewer also has a Read aloud feature for listening on your computer.
Calibre can convert an EPUB to formats such as AZW3, MOBI or PDF. This is useful if your device needs a format that WP Downloader does not produce. Keeping the original EPUB gives you a source file for later conversions.
Move the story to an e-reader
To read the story on an e-reader, start with the EPUB from WP Downloader. Add it to calibre and send it to a connected device over USB, or use the instructions for your reading platform.

Download the story again after changes
A downloaded book is not connected to the story online. It contains the version available when you downloaded it.
If the author adds chapters or edits the work, paste the link into WP Downloader and download the story again. WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an existing EPUB. You can keep the older file, replace it with the new download, or save both for your own reading.
