How to Add GoodNovel Stories to calibre
To add a GoodNovel story to calibre, first download it as an EPUB with WP Downloader. You can then import the file into calibre and manage it like any other e-book. Both tools are free, and downloading from GoodNovel does not require an account.
What you need
WP Downloader is a web tool, so you do not need to install anything for the download. calibre is a free e-book manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
You will need:
- The GoodNovel story page open in your browser
- WP Downloader
- calibre installed on your computer
- A USB cable if you plan to transfer the book to a connected e-reader
A GoodNovel story address looks like this:

Step 1: Download the GoodNovel story
Open the GoodNovel downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will detect the source and prepare the available chapters.
Select EPUB as the output format. EPUB is free for everyone and works directly with calibre. You can also choose to include the story’s images before downloading.
PDF is available with a free Discord sign-in. EPUB is a practical choice for a calibre library because you can read it there or convert it to another format later.
The download includes free chapters only. Paid chapters are omitted, and WP Downloader does not purchase or unlock them. If later chapters require payment, the EPUB may end before the full story does.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to calibre
Open calibre and select Add books. Find the downloaded EPUB on your computer, select it, and add it to your library.
You can open the book in calibre’s e-book viewer to check which chapters were included. The viewer also has a Read aloud feature for listening to the text.
Since the EPUB contains only free chapters, check where it ends before editing its details or transferring it to another device.
Step 3: Edit the book details
calibre lets you edit a book’s metadata and cover. Review the title and cover after importing the EPUB, then change them in calibre if needed. Using consistent titles can make a larger story library easier to browse.
WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you already have. To get newly available free chapters, download the story again and add the new file to calibre. You can then compare the two copies and keep the version you prefer.
Step 4: Read or convert the story
You can read the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer or keep it as the source file for later conversions.
calibre can convert the EPUB to formats such as:
- AZW3
- MOBI
WP Downloader does not create AZW3, MOBI, or TXT files. If you need AZW3 or MOBI, download the EPUB and convert it with calibre.
Converting the file will not add any paid chapters that were missing from the original download.
Step 5: Send it to an e-reader
Connect your e-reader to the computer with a USB cable. After calibre recognizes it, use the send-to-device controls to transfer the book.
Keep the book as an EPUB if your reader supports that format. Otherwise, use calibre to convert it to a supported format before transferring it.

Do I need a GoodNovel account?
