How to Add Eros & Sappho Stories to Calibre

First, use WP Downloader to save the Eros & Sappho story as an EPUB. You can then import it with calibre’s Add books button, edit its metadata and cover, read it on your computer, convert it, or transfer it to an e-reader.

What you need

WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything for the download. Eros & Sappho stories are in English, and no sign-in is required.

You will also need calibre on a Windows, macOS, or Linux computer. Calibre is a free e-book manager for storing and organizing books in a library.

For Eros & Sappho, WP Downloader handles whole stories only. It cannot download individual chapters or story lists from the archive.

Step 1: Copy the Eros & Sappho story link

Open the story on erosnsappho.sycophanthex.com and copy its address from your browser. A story URL looks like this:

Step 2: Download the story with WP Downloader

Open the Eros & Sappho Downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader will detect the site and prepare the whole story for download.

Choose EPUB if you plan to use the file with calibre. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and calibre can open the format directly. You can also choose whether to include the story’s images.

PDF is available with a free Discord sign-in. EPUB gives you more options in calibre if you want to organize, convert, or transfer the story.

WP Downloader only downloads content you can already read. It does not bypass locked material, paywalls, or age restrictions. Support for Eros & Sappho and the other fiction archives was ported from FanFicFare, the open-source fanfiction downloader.

Step 3: Add the EPUB to calibre

After the EPUB finishes downloading, open calibre on your computer.

Select Add books.
Find the downloaded EPUB on your computer.
Select the file and add it.
Wait for the story to appear in your calibre library.

Repeat these steps for any other Eros & Sappho stories you want to keep. Calibre lets you browse and manage the files from one library instead of leaving them in your downloads folder.

Organize the story in your calibre library

After adding the story, you can edit its metadata and cover. This can make library entries easier to identify and help you organize related downloads consistently.

Select the book and open calibre’s metadata editing tools to review or change its details. You can manage the cover from the same area.

WP Downloader cannot update an existing EPUB when new chapters appear. To get a newer copy, download the whole story again and decide how to handle the new file in your calibre library.

Read or listen in calibre

Calibre includes an e-book viewer for reading the imported EPUB on your computer. Since the file is stored locally, you can open it without returning to the original story page.

The viewer also includes a Read aloud feature. Open the story in the viewer and select that feature to listen on your computer.

Convert the story to another format

WP Downloader creates EPUB and PDF files. It does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files.

Calibre can convert an EPUB if your device or reading setup needs another e-book format. For example, you can convert the file from EPUB to AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.

Converting the file does not add newer chapters from the website. Download the whole story again with WP Downloader whenever you need an updated copy.

Transfer the story to an e-reader

Calibre can send books to an e-reader connected to your computer over USB. Add the EPUB to your library, connect the device, and use calibre’s device transfer tools.
