How to Add Dokuga Stories to calibre

Download a Dokuga story as an EPUB with WP Downloader, then import it using calibre’s Add books button. Once it is in your library, you can edit its details, read it offline, or transfer it to an e-reader.

What you need

WP Downloader is a free web tool, so you do not need to install anything to download the story. You will need:

The Dokuga story’s URL
A web browser
calibre installed on a Windows, macOS, or Linux computer
A connected e-reader if you want to transfer the book over USB

Step 1: Download the Dokuga story

Open the Dokuga downloader and paste the story link into the box. WP Downloader detects the site from the URL and prepares the story.

Choose EPUB to add the story directly to calibre. EPUB downloads are free for everyone, and you can choose whether to include the story’s images.

You can also download a PDF after signing in with Discord for free. WP Downloader does not create MOBI, AZW3, or TXT files, but calibre can convert the EPUB later.

You do not need to sign in to Dokuga for public stories. If a story is restricted to members, you can sign in with your Dokuga account so WP Downloader can fetch content that the account can already read. It does not bypass access restrictions.

Step 2: Add the EPUB to calibre

After the EPUB finishes downloading, open calibre on your computer.

Select Add books.
Find the downloaded EPUB on your computer.
Select the file and add it.
Select the new book in your calibre library to view its details.

You can now open the story in calibre’s e-book viewer and read it offline. The viewer also has a Read aloud feature for listening on your computer.

Step 3: Organize the story

calibre lets you edit a book’s metadata and cover. This can make a collection of saved stories easier to browse.

Select the story, open the metadata editor, and review the information attached to the book. You can change its library details or cover to match the way you organize your collection.

Using consistent metadata can help you keep related stories together and make a growing library easier to search. It is also worth keeping the original EPUB unless you have a reason to remove it, since calibre can read or convert that file later.

Step 4: Read or transfer the story

Once the story is in calibre, you can:

Open the EPUB in calibre’s e-book viewer.
Use the viewer’s Read aloud feature.
Connect an e-reader by USB and send the book to the device.
Convert the EPUB to another format, such as AZW3, MOBI, or PDF.

Choose a format that works with the device or app you use for reading. WP Downloader does not produce AZW3 or MOBI files, but calibre can convert the downloaded EPUB to either format.

Managing story updates

WP Downloader cannot add new chapters to an EPUB you have already downloaded. When a Dokuga story gets a new chapter, download the complete story again.

Add the new EPUB to calibre and confirm that you have the latest copy before sending it to your device. You can keep or remove the older file according to your preferred library setup. Checking the download dates can help you tell the versions apart.
